Week 42 · 12–18 October 2026

Exam practice, one mastery score and Year 2 notes

A big week: worked exam problems for Math I, one mastery score used across the site, about a hundred new Year 2 notes, much shorter course pages, and random routes that lead through the foundations you are missing.

New to try

Improved

  • More and better questions. OR Modelling has 2,880 new AI-check questions, 13 missing concept pages were added with their questions, and 1,207 wrong answer options were rewritten to be more plausible. The question bank now holds about 17,500 questions. Math I Lecture 1 has a new page on Mathematical Induction.
  • Weekend quizzes for Year 2. Year 2 competitions start on 17–18 October with Math V questions, and OR Modelling questions now count for Year 1. Choose your course year on the event card.
  • Concept pages. A new layout with a side panel on wide screens, links from a concept's first mention in the text to its own page, the same maths notation across all courses, and long formulas that fit on a phone screen.
  • More links between concepts. About 280 more links from other names for a concept (for example "neighbourhood" on multivariable pages now leads to Open Metric Ball), links that also catch plural forms, and about 600 alternative names from lecture notes that search now finds.
  • Course achievements. A question you last answered 14 or more days ago counts as new again, so clean checks can no longer run out on a concept. AI checks now give you questions you have not answered recently first, and achievement details explain what a clean check is: every answer right in one check, on new questions.
  • Rankings on phones. Refresh and How it counts are now icons beside the board title, the update time and Rivals share one line, and each score sits above its quick-action buttons.
  • Wider pages on laptops with high scaling. On screens such as 2560×1600 at 200%, the header and article now take about 54% of the window instead of 46% (the full 60% from 1440px wide, as on 4K screens), with slightly narrower side rails.
  • Concept Galaxy. Each course is now drawn as its own constellation.
  • Look and feel. Home page art and sidebars follow your theme, note boxes, menus and form controls share one style, and hover labels look the same everywhere.
  • Reader counts. Page views now include phones and ignore quick repeat visits; Rankings now call the daily board "Readers today".

Fixed

  • Fixes for the header search on phones, Today's Concept when it failed to load, the Guide menu, footer links in light themes, underlines in Rankings, an empty badge on map nodes and two concept links that pointed to the wrong page.

Before weekly notes

Earlier changes

Before October we did not keep weekly notes. This is a shorter look back at what arrived when, newest first.

5–11 October

  • Interactive figures. Slider figures on 334 concept pages across Year 1; on phones they open full screen.
  • Concept Galaxy. A 3D star map of the whole programme, linked from the home page: courses are galaxies and the concepts you have studied shine brighter.
  • Today's Concept. One shared concept a day on the home page, with an eight-question check.
  • Year 2 and Year 3 begin. Life Insurance and Risk Insurance notes with AI checks, Year 3 course hubs and four Stochastic Models notes.
  • Smaller changes: AI checks for Probability Distributions, a figure's LaTeX source one click away, and long concept titles that fit better.

28 September – 4 October

  • Search by question. The header search and course search understand questions such as "how do I find the inverse of a matrix" or "pmf vs pdf".
  • Chest guardians. Some map chests are guarded by a short quiz on that concept.
  • Smaller changes: AI checks for Math IV, a restructured Probability Distributions course, and figures drawn at the right text size.

21–27 September

  • Guides and Explain. A Guide button with short tours of each page, and an Explain mode that tells you what any control does. The site guide became a short page plus a detailed reference.
  • Store and Rankings. Wishlists, gifts to study connections, daily offers and item trials; new Collection Value and Verified exploration boards.
  • Course atlas on course pages, a map of the course's lectures and weeks.
  • Smaller changes: new complete themes and a shared Concept connections panel.

14–20 September

  • EOR Rating. One rating from AI-check answers, duels and weekend quizzes, with its own Rankings board.
  • Ghost races and stakes. Race someone's earlier run on the same questions, watch a connection's live duel, and optionally agree an EORbits stake.
  • Map treasure. Expanding the Nearby map can reveal chests with XP, EORbits and Store items.
  • Weekend quizzes follow your courses. From 26 September, ten questions from the week's taught Year 1 topics.
  • Smaller changes: formulas in comments, Applaud and Recommend buttons, and old links that keep working after a page moves course.

7–13 September

  • Study sets and review sessions. Save a Finder selection as a named set, then review 5 or 10 concepts one at a time.
  • Arena. Live duels on a course and weekend puzzle games such as Prerequisite Relay and Concept Match.
  • Achievements and monthly honours, with showcase slots on your public profile.
  • Smaller changes: course editors can fix pages from the site, and the theme no longer flashes on load.

31 August – 6 September

  • New home page with "What brings you here?" entry cards and a session planner.
  • Teaching workbench for preparing a lesson from a concept's foundations and later uses.
  • OR Modelling notes (about 150 pages), course hubs with lecture and week indexes, and a Nearby map you can expand.
  • Smaller changes: a sync indicator in the header, a proper "page not found" page, and duplicate Probability Distributions pages merged into Probability Theory.

August

  • Exam Mode mirror. A light copy of the Wiki that contacts no other website, for locked-down exam-room networks.
  • Smaller changes: 67 formulas that showed as raw TeX were fixed and the whole Probability Distributions course now renders; maths and fonts load from the Wiki itself.

July

  • Math IV and Probability Distributions notes added (about 50 and 90 pages). Complex numbers moved from Math III to Math II.
  • Smaller changes: faster concept maps.

June

  • Avatars, from unlockable emoji to your own image.
  • Server-side rankings, so XP and levels match on every device.
  • A bigger Store: themes, fonts, cursors, sounds, quiz celebrations and background music.
  • Smaller changes: AI checks for Probability Theory, switching between accounts on one device, and many sync and battery fixes.

February – May

  • Study tools. Mastery self-ratings, AI mastery checks on about 440 concepts, Self-test and AI-test revision, Learning Path and concept maps, Search & Filter, course search and Course diagnostics.
  • Accounts. Sync across devices, XP and levels, comments, study connections, public profiles and Rankings; EORbits and the Store arrived at the end of May.
  • More notes: Math II grew to about 120 pages and Probability Theory arrived (about 95 pages).

January

  • The Wiki goes live with Math I and Math III notes and the start of Math II, each page tagged by lecture, plus Random and Custom random for revision.

December 2025

  • Where it began. The Wiki was born on 26 December 2025, when its first folder and first file were created. It went live a few weeks later, in January 2026.
